Our Story

Officially tickety-moo was born on the 25th May 2005.

Gareth & Steve were two happy-go-lucky lads living in England, who felt more than a little underwhelmed by their successful yet unfulfilling corporate careers.

The two lads first met courtesy of Steve convincing Gareth's sister that he was good husband material.

The boys got talking and in no time they'd convinced each other that Oghill Farm and the rolling Irish countryside were a much better bet for a perfect life than either London or England's south coast, so wasted little time in planning a rapid relocation to the Emerald Isle.

Gareth & Steve wondered how they could hone their hard earned 'life skills' for the greater good of the family farm, but soon realised that aeronautics and IT weren't that handy when it came to their new back-to-basics lifestyle.

Never ones to let anything like a lack of relevant experience get them down, Gareth & Steve searched hard for another path to pursue.

It was then, Gareth remembered the many tubs of fantastically flavoured ice cream that he'd merrily munched his way through during his stay in England and wondered super-premium ice cream had never really taken off at home?

A clever plan was hatched and in no time at all Gareth had converted an old barn into a fully equipped production and retail facility, before focusing his thoughts on badgering his brothers Gordon & Marcus (they run the family's dairy business) to share any handy hints acquired during their time running a family farm with 5 generations of Fermanagh flair and know-how.

This was a time when Northern Ireland's farmhouse fayre was a little too twee for its own good, the sort of oldy-worldy stuff that looked as though it had been sanctioned by a cautious committee of over-anxious grannies.

Gareth & Steve opted to do things differently. Today tickety-moo stands for fun, bold flavour formats, the finest ingredients imaginable and a stubborn refusal to ever cut corners.

P.S. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Invest N.Ireland for all the sound advice, financial support and infectious enthusiasm they've provided us. Their sound 'fatherly' advice has enabled our ambitious ice cream to already enjoy more 'early doors' success than even two eternally optimistic founders could ever have hoped for!
